The Homophobic Teaching Booklet is
a small photocopied publication which was distributed to all of
Edinburgh's primary schools in 1999. The booklet was sent along
with an introductory letter explaining that this was a pilot publication
which was to raise discussion amongst the teaching staff about Clause
28, the controvertial legislation which restricted the "promotion
of homosexuality" by local authorities. A colouring-in-book
set of homophobic alphabet illustrations and a questionnaire about
homophobia in schools accompanied the booklet.
The replies were displayed in The
Hairpin Drop In Center at the Collective Gallery.
A second edition (50) of the booklet (signed and
numbered) was produced for EAST International in 2000.
